The Straight Dope

Time for a home-town plug. Before there was an Internet, before there was even that vaunted creator of the Internet Al Gore, folks who wanted their weekly slice of weird went to the pages of the Chicago Reader for Cecil Adam's "The Straight Dope." Since 1973 uncle Cecil has been answering whacked-out reader inquiries such as "Did Jimmy Carter Really See a UFO?" and "Are Champagne Glasses Modeled on Madame de Pompadour's Breasts?"

All I can say is Adams must be a former researcher who spent too much time breathing rare, mind-altering antiquarian mold because he takes a tenacious interest in ferreting out the facts posed by the most bizarre missives.
